The Poetry of Trees

The Poetry of Trees is an ode to the beauty and importance of trees in our lives. By simply looking up, we can see a new world unfolding through the delicate web of branches and leaves of trees. As their appearance changes from season to season, so do the mood and emotions they evoke depending on the light and the time of day.

Having had a life long fascination for trees, they are one of my favourite subjects to photograph.  I feel privileged to be surrounded by them where I live in Switzerland. During my walks in the forest, I try to capture their shapes, structures and patterns and the ever changing mood they elicit. Yet, over the years, I have seen first hand how their numbers are dwindling.

As the lungs of our planet, trees are essential for our survival and are proven to have a direct impact on our physical, emotional and mental well-being as humans. They are essential to the balance of the natural ecosystem and for the preservation of wildlife. And yet they continue to be under direct threat as a result of climate change, tree logging by lumber companies and forest clearing to make space for housing and industry.

With my photographs and artwork, I hope to be show people not only the beauty of trees, but to also raise awareness about the vital importance of preserving them.
